The designs in this painting are inspired by the Alhepalh, a sparsely branched acacia shrub that is found abundantly near Michelle's home in the Utopia region of Central Australia. The plant produces small soft coated brown seeds that the women would once collect, grind into paste and cook into damper bread, making it an important food source. The dot work in this painting represents the seeds of the Alhepalh.
