As a young girl, Liki travelled all around Punmu with her parents, which is the country she has painted. The place depicted here is called Kirriwirri, which means jila or living water place. This country is filled with Junta (bush food). There is a big warla (mud flat) and lots of tali (sandhills). In wet season this area floods.

Sally was born circa 1930 and came into Bidyadanga with her brother in the 1960’s. Her father took her away from her mother to take her to Bidyadanga, which was very sad for her. Her mother cried and never saw Liki again.
