East of Patjarr there are two rockholes called Kurrpulu. Two men stop to drink and camp here before travelling east to Pirluta. As they approach this rockhole they see a woman called Ngiyari (thorny devil) who is digging a hole to bury her eggs. The two men come along and hit her in the side with a boomerang and her eggs spill out from the wound.

Pulpurru was born in 1943 near Yankaltjunku in the north-east Gibson Desert. She came to Warburton with patrol officers in the 1960's and worked in several domestic jobs at the mission. She now lives in Patjarr and is highly celbrated for her paintings and cultural knowledge.
